The aim of Artpreciation is to bring visitors into the heart of Balinese art. With Artpreciation,
art becomes something larger than just the visual: it brings history, society, culture, globalization
and meaning into the art world. If you are looking to broaden your knowledge and exposure to art and art in Bali, Artpreciation is for you.

Our discovery programs are an amazing way to start this journey of knowledge. They include workshops
with art historians, visits to galleries and museums and exclusive access to prominent artists from
the “Island of the Gods” itself.

We are able to tailor our programs according to your needs, if you wish to maximize your
experience. Currently we only host English and Indonesian workshops.

An Introduction

To begin the tour, you will join our experts that will guide you trough the history of Indonesian and Balinese art. We begin at very old pieces of art and what purpose ware they serving, which techniques were used, what where were the main influences drawn from. From there we follow intriguing path of developments towards modern art in Indonesia.

Resort Tour

Following the workshop will be a small tour around either Hotel Tugu Bali, Ayung Resort and Spa
or the Chedi Club at Tanah Gajah to observe how collectors use art to enhance their properties.
They integrate pieces into their resorts to maximize the work’s exposure, but of course to add value
to their guests experiences as well.

A Visit to Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) or NEKA

The works exhibited perfectly showcase the developments of Balinese art over the years.
Here, one witnesses the changes of art that were discussed in the workshop, thus reaffirming
the ideas and lessons that were learnt earlier that day. ARMA showcases works from Indonesian
and Balinese art legends, such as Affandi, Sudjojono, Hendra Gunawan, Srihadi Soedarsono,
and others; or works from foreign artists who influenced Bali’s art such as Rudolf Bonnet, Arie
Smit, Le Mayeur de Merpres, Blanco and more.

Meet the Maestros

Bali has a number of talented artists of many types. However, the maestros we have
chosen have truly mastered their talents and embraced who they are within
the world arround them and gained recognition in the art world both in Indonesia and internationally. Each with their own style and identity, a visit to any of their studios, or
‘their worlds’ as one of the artists said, is a truly unique experience.
